“ It was my wife and my 42 anniversary, and the last time we ate here was our 35th. Both times, the staff went out of their way to make it special. We started off with the calamari, but the 2 sauces that came with it made them even better. Laura got the 3 choice special with the filet, lobster bisque, and carrot cake and loved the very tender steak and asparagus. I got the bone in ribeye medium rare, which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The cheesy scalloped potatoes were outstanding with the nice crusty top, as was the creamy bacon corn, YUM. I also got a side of maple shrimp, which were just ok, nothing special. To cap it off, we shared the huge moist piece of carrot cake, which was probably my second favorite. All in all, it is an outstanding meal and service. ”

“ Had an excellent time this afternoon being served by Jhoan and Jennesis! Amazingly friendly and inviting. Warm bread and appetizers were served super quick even though this place is busy. Best butter I’ve had in a while in a restaurant that’s actually warmed and easily spreadable. And I don’t usually go for artichoke dip but the one here was a pleasantly flavorful surprise. Main course was chicken penne. Huge portion means I’ll probably have enough for two small dinners afterwards. Very pleased! Thank you for the great service! ”
“ Celebrated anniversary at J. Gilbert's, service was first rate, baby back ribs were delicious, sea scallops with risotto were memorable. Wine pairing was good, except for the cake, which was a little dry. The overall experience was excellent and worth a return visit. Prices are on the high side, but the quality of the food and service is excellent and worth every penny. Parking was challenging but valet parking was attentive. Highly recommend this fine dining restaurant in McLean. ”
“ About a month ago, we discovered this hidden gem further up the main road from the Tysons Galleria area. I was up here to participate in a race and we came here to celebrate for brunch. We met one of the managers Josh and were impressed with the friendliness of the staff, their responsiveness to requests and the taste of the food. Josh invited us to visit again and we thought this could be the place to come back to celebrate a birthday a month later. We did just that. They did not disappoint! From being greeted with a birthday card to meeting new staff (shoutout to Marcia and the manager Justin) that matched the same level of friendliness and service to amazing tasting food and drinks (and this from the man of the hour that doesn't really drink) to truly feeling celebrated on his special day! We will certainly be back! I would say for the food alone, but I truly believe the service provided enhanced the flavor of the food for us. Thank you to the entire staff (including the ones we didn't meet that prepared the flavorful food). ”
“ Birthday bites & buttery delights! We finally made it to J. Gilbert’s in McLean, VA this April for a birthday bash — and what a deliciously smart move that was! From the warm welcome to the personalized birthday card (plus free dessert!), the night started strong. Our server ESMAR was a total rockstar — kind, patient, and made us feel like VIPs. The food? The pretzel onion rings were gigantic and delectable, the prime rib egg rolls were totally devoured. Complimentary hot Fluffy sourdough with whipped butter was a warm start to the meal! A juicy Aussie lamb rack, seafood platter, and sirloin steak that all hit the spot. Sides like potato gratin and sweet potato fries tried to steal the side show. And that chocolate velvet cake? Like a chocolatey mic drop. Cozy ambiance, fireplaces, and banquet-ready spaces make it perfect for future larger parties. Big thanks to Landry’s gift card for nudging us in — we’re now loyal fans. Verdict: Must visit. Will return. Still thinking about that butter. ”
“ We went for the first time ever yesterday and the experience was truly wonderful. We were celebrating a major milestone anniversary and J. Gilberts made it special. We started with happy hour before we went to our reservation, and the drinks were fantastic, as were the appetizers- shrimp and the pretzel crusted onion rings. Benjamin was our server and he was fantastic! He recommended the wine in the picture which did not disappoint. We each got steak as part of the prix fix for dinner- Kentucky Strip and Filet- so flavorful and delicious! For the price, the portions were generous, we had to take some home with us! Highly recommended, we will definitely be back. ”
